We - 'Maisie's Rainbow Runners' are doing the 'Colour Obstacle Rush', on 1 June, in memory of Maisie and to raise money for Supershoes. We are taking part in the Milton Keynes Colour Obstacle Rush, in memory of the beautiful Maisie, under the name of 'Maisie's Rainbow Runners'. After being diagnosed with leukaemia in March 2018, Maisie (along with her mummy and daddy) spent most of the next 5 months in hospital undergoing chemotherapy, blood and platelet transfusions and numerous daily procedures. Throughout all of her treatment, she smiled, laughed and brought sunshine to the wards of the hospitals where she was treated. She loved bright colours, sparkles and rainbows. During those weeks in hospital, her imagination and spirit took her on so many adventures. She turned hospital rooms into playgrounds, and doctors and nurses were made to take part in her self built obstacle courses. Being 'poorly' simply didn't stop Maisie - it took something huge to do that. Despite seeming to have beaten the leukaemia, and having been in remission for several months, things changed unexpectedly when a tumour was discovered on her brain, and Maisie passed away on 2 September, aged 2 years and 9 months old. She grew up with a special group of friends, and so 'Maisie's Rainbow Runners' is made up of not only Maisie's mummy, but the mummy's of some of her best friends too. And what better way to remember a little girl who loved colour and adventure than the 'Colour Obstacle Rush' - the most challenging, colourful, obstacle-laden 5k run there is?! Maisie's mummy - Julie - and her friends - Rhi, Sarah, Kylie, Hannah, Nicola, Anna & Kat - have chosen to take on the challenge to raise money for Supershoes, a charity that creates amazing, unique shoes for children with cancer. Super Maisie loved her Supershoes and so we want as many children as possible to be able to enjoy this amazing gift as possible.
